Why are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) so important for Germany?
According to the IfM Bonn (Institute for SME Research), small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) contribute 55.7% of the total net value added by all companies in Germany (2022 figure). SMEs form the backbone of the German economy and employ more than 70% of the workforce.
We aim to help strengthen SMEs and position them for the future. With our support, it becomes easier to meet today's challenges: we assist with sales development, strategy and management, business development, organization and processes, and business growth. Since SMEs often lack the capacity to implement these changes, we also actively provide operational support to these companies.
The SME sector includes both independent SMEs and large family-owned businesses. More than 3.4 million companies in Germany – representing 99% of private sector companies – are classified as small and medium-sized enterprises according to the European Commission's SME definition, according to the IfM Bonn (Institute for SME Research in Bonn).
